Shravan Maas the
second month of rainy (Varsha) season is the beginning of all auspicious
festivals and events. It is the holiest month in the Hindu calendar. Devotees
observe fast and prayers. Especially every Monday of this month is
dedicated to Lord Shiva aka Shravan Somwar Vrat. This is
the time when Lord Shiva saved this world by drinking the deadliest
poison Halahala produced by ocean during Samudra Manthan.
Devotees perform
Rudra Abhisheik by offering Panchamrit (made using ghee,
sugar, honey, curd and milk), Bela-Patra/ Bilva Patra (Aegel Leaf),
Flowers and Dhatura (Nightshade) over the Shivalinga.
It purifies your mind
and body, also gives immense peace and fulfills our desires.
But to perform this
puja we need to have some energetic food. Though there are many do’s and don’ts
about this fasting but one should eat lots’s of fruits, milk, curd, cottage
cheese(Paneer) and nuts during this fast.
There are many Vrat ingredients
used to prepare some snacks. One such is SINGHARA FLOUR (Water
chestnut Flour). This flour makes sure that
Ø There is no water retention our
body.
Ø There is no decline in the energy
levels as it is an excellent source of some energy boosting nutrients like
iron, zinc and magnesium.
