TIPS FOR MONSOON

We all love rainy season but at times it becomes very difficult to manage kitchen during monsoon. Because of rise in moisture level things in our kitchen gets spoiled. But now need not to worry here are some simple tips and tricks to prevent few things from becoming damp. Try these out!
1.    SALT
[A very important thing of kitchen. Usually gets damp in monsoon.]
·       Place some tooth picks in salt.
·       You can even add some rice grains in salt sprinkler.
·       You can add cloves.
·       Or else can keep some dried coriander at the bottom of your jar.
    
2.    GROUNDED SPICE POWDER OR ANY MASALE
[During monsoon these masala not only gets moist but at times it gets clumpy. There’s a off-white layer which is nothing but fungal growth which is very infectious. So store spices in a right way.]
·       Add asafoetida in all masala’s.
·       You can add few cloves in every spice powder-turmeric, red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala etc.
·       Add bay leaves in coriander seeds, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, sesame seeds, carom seeds.
·       Store spice powders in air-tight containers and freeze them.

3.    SUGAR
[If you keep sugar container open it at times gets converted into sugar syrup during monsoon.]
·       Very important is store it in an dry air-tight container and place some kitchen paper at the bottom of the container.
·       Add few cloves and bay leaves.
·       Or you can even wrap some rice grains in tissue and place it at the bottom of the container.
·       Stick some kitchen paper inside the lid of container.

4.    PULSES OR WHOLE GRAINS
[keeping pulses fresh during this season is another very difficult task]Da
·       Dry roast pulses and store it in air tight container.
·       You can even apply castor oil to pulses/grains/rice.
·       Add good amount of bay leaf.
 
5.    SOOJI, DALIYA SEVAIYAN, PEANUTS, SESEAME
·       Dry roast sooji, daliya, sevaiyan, raw peanuts, sesame and store it in an air-tight container.
·       Put some kitchen paper in between sooji to prevent spoiling.

6.    SALTY SNACKS/CHIPS/BISCUITS
·       Transfer it in a zip-lock bag and always keep salty snacks/chips/biscuits in refrigerator.

7.    PICKLES
·       Before monsoon arrives. Transfer pickle in an fresh container.
·       Add good amount of oil.[ heat oil and add asafoetida cool it and then add it to the pickle.]
·       Cover the container with a muslin cloth.
·       You can even store it in refrigerator.

8.    Apart from these tips try keeping kitchen dry. Make sure that there is proper ventilation. Try to keep windows open whenever possible.

9.    Clean your kitchen cabinets with a dry cloth.
