MOONG MATAR KHICHADI

Rice-Lentil blend with Peas and some spices makes it simply nourishing and delicious.

INGREDIENTS:-    
                                                      servings-2
½ cup each Rice and Yellow or Green Split Gram(moong dal)
1 ½ tablespoon Oil or Ghee
1/4 th teaspoon asafetida
2 cloves
2 black pepper corns
1 tablespoon Cumin
1 Bay Leaf
½ inch piece of cinnamon
½ teaspoon Turmeric
1 tablespoon Coriander Powder
¼ teaspoon Garam masala
1 small Potato diced
¼ cup Peas
½ salt

METHOD:-

1.  Wash rice and Dal and soak for 10 minutes.
2.  In a pressure cooker heat oil or ghee
3.  Add whole spices and cumin allow it to crackle
4.  Add asafoeitda, potato and mix everything well.
5.  Now add turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala and soaked dal-rice
6.  Sautee’ for 1-2 minutes.
7.  Boil 1 ½ cups water and add it in the dal rice
8.  Allow it to boil on high flame.
9.  Now add salt stir it and cover it with lid.
10.             Cook it on low flame (almost 4 whistles are enough)
11.             It will take 20 minutes to cook.
After 20 minutes it is ready to serve! Serve it with ghee over it.
It goes well when served with hot Kadhi.
