Sama Chawal/Mordhan Khichadi

Sama Chawal/Mordhan/Samvat Chawal is commonly consumed during vrat. It is a good replacement for rice lovers. This sama chawal khichadi is usually accompanied with Falahari Kadhi (Recipe available in blog). You can make khichadi, pulao, tikki, dosa from this. Here is a very simple khichadi recipe (keeping your stomach in mind)-

Ingredients-

2 cups Sama Chawal/Mordhan
1 cup crushed roasted peanuts
2 green chilies slit
1 tablespoon cumin
2 cloves
1 small piece of cinnamon almost ½ inch piece or less than that.
½ cup grated coconut
2 tablespoon curd
1 tablespoon Ghee or groundnut oil
Salt to taste

Process-

1. Wash Mordhan and soak for 10 minutes.
2. Heat ghee/oil in a pan, add cumin, clove, cinnamon and green chili.
3. Now add soaked mordhan(remove water and then add)
4. Sauté it for 3-4 minutes on a low flame.
5. Add crushed peanuts, grated coconut and curd.
6. Add 2 cups water and salt. Mix it well.
7. Allow it boil, once water starts boiling cover it with lid and keep it on low flame.
8. It will take around 15 minutes to cook.
9. Once mordhan is cooked completely take it out and serve it with Falahari kadhi or lemon pickle.
